When you are depressed it is easy to disconnect and isolate all areas of your life. You feel like no one will understand, or they will downplay your feelings. You can gain the confidence to reach out for help. We can beat it, there are many tools available to us. Here are 5 ways to reach out for help with depression.

I can put a finger on one of the first feelings of Depression I had as a child. A fear of every kid who has had roots in their hometown.

If you have ever gone through depression or maybe you currently are, you know how hard it can be. You feel alone like no one could possibly understand the thoughts you have and how you truly feel.

When you are depressed it is easy to disconnect from others and isolate in all areas of your life. You might feel like no one will understand, or downplay your feelings. I will share ways of how to gain the confidence to reach out for help when you suffer from depression.

There are many natural ways to combat depression, but sometimes you just need more support and encouragement. We all do!

We can beat depression, there are many tools available to us, we just have to ask and try. 

The biggest thing we have to remember is even though we feel completely alone, we are not. So many people suffer from depression and just not talk about it.

Never feel like you can’t talk about how you feel, you just have to find the right people who will listen without judgment. 

 

Hotline Help 

This is one way that you can reach out for help and no one has to know. You will talk to trained counselors or people who might have dealt with depression themselves. This is a great tool that is free to do (800-273-TALK) it is a Suicide Prevention Hotline that can be a safe place to talk. Many find this is a great place to go to talk about your feelings and get advice and encouragement to truly help you work at breaking free from depression. 

 

Read 

Hop on the internet read some blogs about people who struggled with depression and found a way to overcome. Read books that share their story, and talk about how low they felt, how they overcame, and so on. This is a great way to really feel like you can connect with someone else and see that there are many people who probably have the same thoughts or struggles as you did. 

 

 

Online Forums 

They have forums that you can find online whether it be a true forum or even a Facebook Private group where you can read what others are going through, talk about your situation, and connect. The best part of this is you can do it anonymously. You can create a fake profile name and no one has to know it is you, and you can feel like you can be totally open about your emotions. 

 

Family and Friends 

You can always talk to a family member, friend, or even a doctor or counselor. You can start out by saying things have been hard or you are struggling and see how they react. If they seem open to talking you can go a bit further into detail if you feel comfortable. It can be scary but sometimes just talking about how we feel can make a huge change in our depression. It can be the first step in overcoming.
