Ryder Reviews the Red Alert Dog Chew

with 2 Comments

Chews are a great way to keep your dog entertained. Boredom is the number one cause of a dog's destructive behavior. When your dog doesn't have an adequate energy outlet while you're away, they are bound to get into trouble. That is where a good, long-lasting chew comes in handy. Let's look at the Red Alert dog chew.

We have talked a lot about the benefits of chews for dogs. Chews are a great way to keep your dog from becoming bored. Boredom is the number one cause of destructive behavior in dogs. When your dog does not have an adequate outlet for energy while you’re away, they are bound to get into trouble. That is where a good, long-lasting chew comes in handy.

Dog chews are also a wonderful way to help with their dental health. Your pup’s dental health is very important, as you recall from our past article. Poor dental health can lead to various other health issues in your dog.

So, let’s talk about the Red Alert Dual Texture dog chew by Ethical Products.

In full disclosure, Matrix Partners PR firm in Chicago introduced me to the Red Alert dog chew. I was not paid for this post, however, they did give us the product for free in exchange for an honest review.

First off, the “Red Alert” refers to the core of the chew, which is red. The inner red core is a safety feature. Once your dog has chewed through the first layer and exposes the red layer, it is time to get another chew.

It’s no secret, that Ryder and I have been big fans of the Nylabone chews. Naturally, we were intrigued by the Red Alert dual texture chew. The Red Alert is also made of a durable nylon material that is perfect for aggressive chewers.

There are two different textures, as the name implies. There is a nylon material 9the white part) and a flexible “chewy” rubber (the dar part). This keeps your pup interesting and wanting to chew for long periods of time.

The Chew that we received is turkey flavored. they come in Two different flavors turkey and beef. Each flavor has three different sizes.  the one we received is a 5 in, which is the medium size.

List of Options

These shoes have been kind of hard to find online.  I was only able to find the one we have on Overstock. They were also available on a few other online pet retailers. But I wasn’t familiar with them. If you are hesitant at all about buying online, these might be a bit hard for you to access.

There were a few Red Alert chews available on Amazon. These are the options I found on Amazon. You can check out their listings here.

The Pros

  • Delicious flavors
  • Red safety core
  • Stain-Free
  • Long-lasting for aggressive chewers
  • Great for dental health

The Cons

  • Can be hard on gums and make them bleed.
  • Because of the latter, supervision is advised while chewing.
  • The nylon material is very HARD. If you have a very playful dog, you have to be mindful of your dog likes to drop toys at your feet or likes to toss toys.
  • These chews are kind of hard to find in online retailers. You will have to shop around.

Good review. Has Ryder ever considered doing reviews on cat stuff every-now-and then?

Thank you, Crystal. We don’t have any cat stuff in the works. But we would consider a product that would fit. We do have a kitty living with us now, but she will be moving in the next month or so.
