My Answers to Elisabeth’s Questions
What inspired you to start a blog?
Blogging entered my world when I was looking at options on how to make money online. I just started blogging at the end of October. The whole monetizing things, I don’t really have down yet, however, I am now ever more connected to a calling I have in life. A calling to help people.
If you could do anything, what would you do?
If I could do anything… Hmm, I would want to learn as many languages as I could. Languages fascinate me. I think I would want to then travel the world (with my pup, Ryder of course) and mingle with people from all walks of life.
Where is the favorite place you have ever been?
I left my heart is in Hawaii, ever since the moment my father took us over and showed us where he grew up. He grew up on the Big Island. And now that is where his ashes lay.
Last year, I took myself to Maui for my birthday. Almost a year to the day, I am determined to move to Hawaii. That is why I started researching how to make money online. I tried a few different methods. But then I found and fell in love with blogging. It is a great mix of business and the creative outlet I need in life. My goal is to be able to grow my audience and blog and be able to quit my full-time job. Then move to Hawaii and be a nomad for a few years while surrounded by my heritage.
What is the worst purchase you have ever made?
The worse purchase I have made. That is a hard one. I cannot pinpoint a specific thing, but I can say that I have wasted a lot of money trying to please and find myself passion in life. All I needed to do was sit down and soul search just a little harder.
What is the most interesting thing you have read or seen this week?
I don’t know about interesting. But I was completely enthralled when I found a pup who starred in this year’s Puppy Bowl who looked very, very close to my boy, Ryder! I spent a good chunk of time researching him and trying to find more and more of his cute little face on the interwebs.
Who are your favorite musicians?
Oh, man. It is weird for me to say, but I don’t listen or keep up with much music these days. (I’m old. LOL) I have never been good and naming any artists. I am more of a lyric remember-er. HA. I do enjoy some of Jasmine Thompson’s cover songs. I found her on Pandora one day and made a new station for her.
What is your favorite time of day?
I have a really good sweet spot in the late morning to early afternoon. It is the time I am most creative and productive. But, those hours are still spent 9-5ing these days. So, I guess I will have to say that my favorite time of day is when I can get home to cuddle my pup.
Coffee or tea? Why?
I love coffee. But my tummy has recently decided it does not love coffee. So, I have been trying to sub tea in more and more. I go through little tea spurts where I drink a ton and then stop for a while. Love some tea mistos or tea lattes. I also wait all year long for Teavana to bring out their White Chocolate Peppermint tea. Can you tell I have a bit of a sweet tooth?!
What is your favorite animal and why?
Well, hands down my favorite animal is my fur-baby, Ryder. He is the love of my life and keeps me going every day! Other than my dog and dogs in general, I am in love with owls, dolphins, wolves, and bears. Because they are all simply amazing!
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
I really want to make my blog my full-time gig. I see myself working from home with Ryder by my side. Then once the laptop shuts, we are off to find adventures. We would go to the beach, go on hikes, and try to live every single day to the fullest. We all get the same 86,400 seconds in a day — I want to make each one count!
What is your silliest story
Oh no! Is it bad that I can’t think of a silly story?! I think that is silly…. Oh, I have one. I used to be a competitive swimmer. I started competing when I was 6 years old. When I was 8, I started swimming with kids who were a lot older than me. One of my friends on the team was a boy, Luke who was about 2 years older than me. He and I got along because we were the closest in age.
My dad and his mom became friends after sitting on the bleachers together for hours and hours worth of practices. His mom’s name was Tracy. She was the sweetest little lady. She was very much a homemaker. I was always in the pool and wore out my suits quickly. So, one day she offered to make me a swimsuit.
I was super excited when she brought it to practice one day. I wore it that day in the pool. Luke kept giving me the strangest looks all practice. I started wondering if she had made the suit wrong or something.
Finally, after practice, I confronted him and asked why he was being so wired. He looked around and quietly said, “Promise you won’t tell?!”
Well of course not, so I nodded.
He leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Mom made me try on and model your suit because we are the same height.”
From that day on and years to come, it was one of our biggest inside jokes.
